The Australian public owns our fossil fuel and mineral deposits, but while the multinational companies that export these resources make huge profits, most (particularly the gas companies) pay little or no royalties and very little tax. We should be increasing the amount they have to pay and using this money to help subsidise a faster transition to renewables, especially subsidies for rooftop solar, batteries and EVs that will help reduce household power bills as quickly as possible.
